2)Project Context & Brand Background
Evair is a Made-in-India premium car fragrance brand created by VRN Lifestyle. The name combines "everyday" and "air," reflecting the brand's promise of bringing freshness into everyday car journeys through long-lasting fragrances and natural wooden diffuser bottles.
This project was completed as part of my professional experience at Zero Gravity Communications for a real client. The goal was to create packaging that made Evair feel fresh, premium, approachable, and visually distinct within the car fragrance category.

3)Brief, Client Need & Design Goal
The client needed packaging for Evair's car freshener range that could communicate fragrance, freshness, and product quality at first glance. Since car fresheners are often bought quickly, the packaging needed to work as a strong visual sales tool.
Design goals
- •Make each fragrance variant visually recognizable
- •Communicate freshness and mood through color and imagery
- •Support Oriental, Floral, and Fruity fragrance families
- •Feel premium but accessible for everyday car users
- •Balance emotional appeal with functional product information

4)Research, Market Study & Fragrance Understanding
Before designing the final packaging, I studied the car freshener and perfume market to understand how fragrance products communicate value — competitor study, product category analysis, consumer preferences, packaging styles, and fragrance language.
Research insights
- •Competitors included Godrej Aer, Ambi Pur, UNO Aroma, Ester, Bliss, Campure, and Aromahpure
- •Category cues: freshness, long-lasting scent, spill-proof packaging, essential oils, natural materials
- •Studied the fragrance pyramid — top, middle, and base notes
- •Matched visual language to scent personality: aquatic, floral, woody, and fruity treatments

5)My Role & Client Collaboration
My role included research, packaging exploration, client-facing coordination, sample testing, design refinement, and final artwork development. I handled direct communication and meetings with the client to understand expectations, collect feedback, and present design directions.
Contributions
- •Understanding product, fragrance categories, and brand positioning
- •Researching competitor packaging and visual trends
- •Designing front and back packaging panels for multiple variants
- •Testing multiple packaging samples before finalizing direction
- •Refining designs based on client and production feedback
- •Preparing final packaging mockups and visual applications

6)Packaging Process & Design Development
The packaging process went through multiple stages. I began by studying the product format — a small hanging wooden diffuser bottle used inside cars — which influenced structure, protection, display, and scent communication.
Final packaging system
- •Several packaging samples tested for scale, print visibility, color output, and retail display
- •Vertical box format with a large fragrance image window on the front
- •Distinct color palette and mood-based image treatment per variant
- •Back panel with fragrance information, barcode, ingredients, and usage details
- •Flexible system where every variant feels unique but connected as one brand family

7)Visual Direction, Fragrance Families & Applications
The visual direction was built around freshness, movement, and sensory memory. Since the product is about scent, the packaging needed to visually suggest what the fragrance might feel like before the user smells it.
Fragrance families & variants
- •Oriental / Fresh: Cool Water, Ocean Rush, Sugar Vanilla, Sandalwood
- •Floral: Green Tea, Oriental Bloom, English Rose
- •Fruity: additional fresh and colorful fragrance extensions
- •Each variant used color and imagery to communicate scent personality
- •Extended into product mockups, website visuals, social posts, and fragrance note cards

8)Outcome & Reflection
The final outcome was a complete packaging system for Evair car fresheners that worked across multiple fragrance variants while maintaining a consistent brand identity. The project helped transform the product into a more polished, retail-ready fragrance brand with a clear visual language.
Reflection
This project strengthened my understanding of real-world packaging design — client communication, print production, packaging samples, material handling, product fit, information hierarchy, and performance in both physical and digital contexts. Packaging must communicate quickly, protect the product, support business goals, and create trust at the moment of purchase.
